The Soon to Default Payment Plans report identifies payment plans expected to default within the next 0-30 days if payment is not received. It helps teams act before a plan officially defaults.
Use cases: Proactive patient outreach, delinquency prevention, upcoming risk review, and prioritizing accounts for follow-up.
About the dates: The Soon to Default Payment Plans report's date range looks at the upcoming installment due date — the date a payment is scheduled to come due that, if missed, would cause the plan to default. You set the window with the From Date and To Date fields on the report screen.
In plain terms: if you run the report for June 1-June 30, it returns active payment plans that have an installment due in that window where missing that payment would push the plan into default. So unlike the Recently Defaulted report (which looks backward at defaults that already happened), this report looks forward at payments coming due.
A few things worth noting:
- It only includes active plans where the upcoming payment hasn't been paid yet and there's no scheduled/autopay payment already lined up for it.
- A plan only appears if missing that specific installment would actually trigger a default, based on your organization's missed-payment rules (for example, the plan's allowed number of missed payments, or a rule that defaults the plan if the first installment is missed).
- The report also factors in the grace period your organization has configured, so a plan shows up based on when it would truly default, not just the raw due date.
- The date picker allows future dates, since the whole point is to look ahead. You can also filter by institution if you have more than one.
The date range reflects upcoming installment due dates. Results include active payment plans with a payment coming due in the selected window that would default if the payment isn't received, based on your organization's missed-payment and grace-period settings. Use it to proactively reach out to patients before a plan defaults, and filter by institution if applicable.
